St. Joseph Regional continues to impress in each and every game. The Green Knights most recent game played on November 1 against DePaul marked their third consecutive game facing a team ranking in New Jersey’s Top 5.
Coming out of those three games with three wins proved that St. Joseph disserves their status as 1st in New Jersey and 5th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings.
Ranking 3rd in New Jersey and 74 nationally, DePaul looked to show that the New Jersey superpower could be taken down. The Spartans hung in there for an evenly split 7-7 first quarter, but then St. Joseph took off in the second, leading them to a big win.
The second quarter saw the Green Knights run up the score by 21 points to take a 28-7 lead with them to the half. In the second half, St. Joseph added on 10 points, while allowing one DePaul touchdown, to win with a 24-point cushion of 38-14.
St. Joseph’s stellar offense was lead by senior Spencer Aukamp who completed 14 of 22 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Sherman Alston carried the ball 23 times, gaining 82 yards and three touchdowns.
After allowing DePaul scored in the first, St. Joseph’s defense shut the Spartans down until the end of the fourth quarter. Altogether, the Knights’ defense forced two interceptions and recovered a fumble.
With only two games remaining, St. Joseph still looks on top form, ready to take down any competitor. Their next matchup is to be played on November 9 against Ramapo.
