St. Joseph Regional has been waiting all year to redeem itself following a 42-0 loss to 44th ranked St. Edward in the second game of the season.  The New Jersey team finally proved the critics wrong once and for all, taking down Paramus Catholic, ranked 4th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings and 1st in New Jersey.

Not only just beating Paramus, the Green Knights shutout the previously undefeated team, taking a 27-0 victory.

The offense wasted no time in getting started, racking in 20 points by the half.  Then, it became a secure game, not letting the Paladins finding any source of momentum.

Quarterback Jack Walsh contributed on all three touchdowns, throwing two scores to fellow senior Ugo Ezemma and rushing one in himself.  Junior tailback Brian Kearns gained 100 yards on 32 carries on the ground.

It goes without saying that defense played a crucial role in shutting out the state’s best team.  The Green Knights forced four turnovers:  two interceptions from Devin Cividini, a third from Joe Giles-Harris, and a fumble recovery by Louis Acceus.

St. Joseph Regional currently ranks 54th in the nation and 5th in the state.  This win can be the turning point in the season for the Knights and puts them in a place to start climbing up the rankings.

The Green Knights have two regular season game left:  first against Camden County, then 33rd ranked Don Bosco Prep.
